(Botanical) name: Plantago major L. Family: Plantaginaceae. Common
name: Plantain, Waraaq saboon, Masaas, Mesaasa, Lisaan el-kalb (kelb), Lisaan
hamad (hamal). Origin:

description: PLANTAGO L. : Flowers small, 4-fid,
sessile in spikes or heads. Fruit a capsule, 2-manyseeded, opening by a lid. Stemless with scapes arising from a
leaf-rosette, or sometimes a short stem but then leaves alternate. Leaves undivided with entire, rarely minutely
dentate margin. Bracts pale, plant keeping green. Stem and
leaves thinly pilose to glabrous. Leaves broad ovate. PLANTAGO MAJOR L. : Tall glabrous or minutely
pubescent herb with broadly ovate leaves and long peduncles with narrow green
spike. (Per.) Weed. v.
