ANGIOSPERMAE. Carpels infolded or arranged as to form an ovary in which the
ovules are borne. Class
DICOTYLEDONEAE. Embryo with 2 cotyledons ; stem with open vascular bundles ;
leaves usually netveined ; flowers usually not 3-merous. ~ Subclass
ARCHICHLAMYDEAE. Perianth of free parts or absent. MALVALES: STERCULIACEAE.
Differs from Malvaceae in its 2-celled anthers and frequent occurrence of
androgynophore ; calyx 3-5-lobed ; petals 5 or none ; stamens 5 or more
united into a tube, the outer whorl often staminodial. Source:
