ovules are borne. Class
DICOTYLEDONEAE. Embryo with 2 cotyledons ; stem with open vascular bundles ;
leaves usually netveined ; flowers usually not 3-merous. ~
Subclass SYMPETALAE. Perianth of united parts, at least the corolla. TUBIFLORAE: LABIATAE.
Square stem ; opposite decussate leaves : inflorescence a “verticillaster” of
2 condensed opposite cymes ; 2-lipped flowers ; didynamous stamens
(exceptionally 2 only) ; gynobasic style ; 2-lobed stigma ; carpels 2 ; fruit
