Division ANGIOSPERMAE. Carpels infolded or arranged as to form an ovary in which the ovules are borne.

Class DICOTYLEDONEAE. Embryo with 2 cotyledons ; stem with open vascular bundles ; leaves usually netveined ; flowers usually not 3-merous.

~ Subclass ARCHICHLAMYDEAE. Perianth of free parts or absent.

PAPAVERALES:

CRUCIFERAE. Herbs with alternate, exstipulate leaves and simple or branched hairs ; regular bisexual flowers in bractless racemes ; 4 sepals, 4 petals, 6 tetradynamous stamens ; ovary of 2 carpels, 1-loculed, with spurious partition ; fruit a siliqua or silicula with parietal placentation.
