Division ANGIOSPERMAE. Carpels infolded or arranged as to form an ovary in which the ovules are borne.

Class DICOTYLEDONEAE. Embryo with 2 cotyledons ; stem with open vascular bundles ; leaves usually netveined ; flowers usually not 3-merous.

~ Subclass ARCHICHLAMYDEAE. Perianth of free parts or absent.

CENTROSPERMAE:

CHENOPODIACEAE. Herbs, often fleshy, with simple sepaloid, not scarious, persistent perianth of 5 segments or less ; stamnes 5 or less opposite perianth-lobes ; ovary of 2 carpels, 1-loculed, with 1 basal ovule ; fruit a nut.
